Q & A: Scheduling National Projects

Every day, our field engineering technicians (FETs) go to dozens of jobsites to balance, commission, and optimize indoor air quality for our national accounts. How do we manage to stay on top of every site visit? We sat down with NTi’s Scheduling & Logistics Coordinator, Laura, to ask her how she ensures we’re on site at the right time and get the client’s building ready for opening day.

What do you do in your role?

LR: I communicate with all national accounts to determine if they are ready for their TAB, IAQ and/or Commissioning work to be completed. After following the site’s progression, I can determine when we are needed on site and schedule an FET to arrive. I book all travel arrangements and lift equipment if needed for the FETs in the field. Once we have projects scheduled, I then update the remaining project dates to help schedule for the future.

How long does it usually take to get a project scheduled?

LR: It depends on the site and crew but, if everything is ready on time, I can usually schedule our team to be on site in 2 weeks.

How do you communicate with the client about their scheduled project?

LR: I communicate with clients about their scheduled project via email and phone calls.

What happens if a client needs to reschedule a project?

LR: If we arrive at the site and it’s not ready, then we would schedule a return. We typically have a 3-5 week wait for returns, so it’s important that we know in advance if the site is not ready for us.

What makes you successful in your role?

LR: Organization and consistency are key.
